Privacy Policy

Your data is yours.

Never seen or shared.

Gnash is built around a simple idea: you shouldn’t have to give up your privacy to change your relationship with nicotine. We don’t track you or show ads, and we can’t see your data. Everything you enter stays private, encrypted, and in your iCloud.

What data Gnash uses

Gnash stores only the information you explicitly choose to enter into the app. This includes things like your nicotine logs, reflections, and app settings that help Gnash function as intended.

That data exists solely so the app can work for you. Gnash does not collect usage analytics, crash analytics, advertising identifiers, location data, or any other information used for tracking, profiling, or marketing.

There are no hidden data flows and no background collection.

Where your data lives

All Gnash data is stored in your personal iCloud account using Apple’s CloudKit. This means your data is encrypted by Apple, tied to your Apple ID, and synced only between devices you own. Gnash does not operate its own servers or databases for personal data, and nothing is stored outside of iCloud.

Because of this setup, your data never passes through Gnash infrastructure in a readable form.

Access to your data

We do not have the ability to read your logs, view your reflections, or inspect how you use the app. There is no admin panel, no internal dashboard, and no backdoor access. Your data is private by design, not by policy.

What Gnash does not do

Gnash does not track behavior, collect analytics, serve ads, sell data, or share information with third parties.

There are no analytics SDKs, no advertising frameworks, and no trackers embedded in the app. There is nothing to opt out of, because these systems simply do not exist in Gnash.

Your control over your data

You remain in full control of your data at all times. You can delete your data from within the app, export it if you want to keep a copy, or disable iCloud syncing through your device settings. You can also remove Gnash’s data directly from iCloud using Apple’s iCloud management tools.

If you delete the app and remove its associated iCloud data, your data is permanently deleted.

iCloud requirement

Gnash requires iCloud to function. This is a deliberate choice. Using iCloud allows Gnash to rely on Apple’s encryption and security infrastructure while avoiding the need to collect or manage user data on our own servers. If iCloud is disabled, Gnash cannot store or sync your data.

Because Gnash uses Apple’s CloudKit, Apple is responsible for data storage, encryption, and underlying security. Apple’s privacy policies apply to data stored in iCloud, and Gnash operates within Apple’s App Store privacy guidelines. Learn more.

Children and age considerations

While the animated mood balls can be enjoyed by people of any age, Gnash is intended for adults who are addicted to nicotine and want to quit or reduce their use. The app doesn’t collect personal data from anyone, but its content discusses nicotine and tobacco, which is why it carries an age rating.
